Funchal, the capital of Madeira on the Atlantic coast, combines maritime scenery, culture, and food. Its harbor and crystal-clear surrounding waters set the destination context, while ashore you can explore cobbled streets and vibrant markets. The Mercado dos Lavradores is a key stop for local produce, exotic fruits, and Madeira’s black scabbardfish. You can also try bolo do caco, a local garlic bread, and sample Madeira wine. The city’s cultural highlights include the 15th-century Funchal Cathedral and the colorful murals of the old town. For maritime history, visitors can stop at the Museum of the History of Madeira or see the replica of Christopher Columbus’s ship, the Santa Maria. Overall, Funchal offers a balanced visit on and off the water, with strong culinary, architectural, artistic, and seafaring appeal.
Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, offers a vibrant mix of culture, nature, and tradition. The island is known for its towering Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak, which provides stunning views and hiking trails for nature lovers. In the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage site, you can explore colonial streets, museums, and historic churches. Another highlight is the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, famous for its colorful carnival, one of the largest in the world. In terms of cuisine, Tenerife offers specialties such as gofio, papas arrugadas with mojo sauce, and freshly grilled fish. For beach lovers, the volcanic black or golden sand beaches, like Las Teresitas, are perfect for relaxation. With a blend of African, Spanish, and Latin American influences, Tenerife is a destination that surprises with its cultural and natural diversity.
Cristina Rampinini is a 25-year-old marine biologist born and raised in a small city in northern Italy, far from the sea. Despite the distance, she developed a strong connection to the ocean from an early age, cultivating a lifelong dream of studying and protecting marine life, particularly dolphins and whales. After completing her Master’s degree in 2024, Cristina pursued international experiences in marine conservation, traveling to locations such as the Maldives, Scotland, and Portugal, where she participated in research projects and conferences, further developing her scientific and practical expertise. In Portugal, she worked as a research assistant with AIMM for two consecutive seasons, where she gained valuable insight into fieldwork, data collection, and the realities of marine conservation.

Every cruise is more than a journey - it's memories that last long after you step ashore. Our participants share their stories, emotions and moments that are hard to put into words... but which we try to capture right here.
I thought it would just be a holiday. It was a journey that cleared my soul. Every sunrise on deck reminded me that you can live slower and deeper.

Norway, tourist cruise
After 30 years I was at the helm again. Watch at four in the morning, shared meals in the mess, cold wind, the crew's laughter - I felt like in the old days. Cruise Tall Ships helped me find a voyage I would never have found on my own.
Marek Kowalski
training cruise in the North Sea
I didn't know anyone when I boarded. After a week I had a family that can't be replaced. It wasn't just a cruise - it was the adventure of a lifetime together.
