Who is the open-berth voyage for:- For people aged 15 and over.- For both those who want to learn the basics of sailing and experienced sailors.- For travel enthusiasts looking for unique experiences. We do not require any sailing experience. Group bookings are welcome.Voyage characteristics:An open-berth voyage usually lasts 7 or 10 days (special voyages may differ). Participants are expected to take on the role of sailors, forming an active part of the crew and their watch to which they will be assigned. Our tall ships have a tradition of training ships used for maritime education. The guiding principle is: SAFETY FIRST, which makes sailing one of the safest sports, despite climbing the masts and yards. The crew is divided into three watches. On STS Fryderyk Chopin, each watch consists of about 12 people. Depending on whether the ship is underway, berthed, or at anchor, the watches are assigned different duties. These include tasks such as navigation, sail handling, maneuvering drills, galley work (the ship’s kitchen), and keeping watch over the mooring and anchoring of the tall ship. Everything takes place under the supervision of experienced staff and with the support of instructors belonging to the so-called skeleton crew.Voyages on tall ships can be physically and mentally demanding for participants. Nevertheless, we know that sailing is one of the most rewarding ways to spend free time, and a voyage on a tall ship is a one-of-a-kind experience and adventure. Sailing is a skill that can be developed throughout one’s entire life, and every voyage is unique. In addition to sailing skills, crew members develop in areas such as teamwork, decision-making, and responsibility for others.Route of the voyage:The planned route will be announced on the day the voyage begins and will depend on the weather conditions and the captain’s decision. The permanent crew of the ship will make every effort to ensure that the places visited are as attractive as possible. Only the embarkation and disembarkation ports remain unchanged.Olbia

Arriving by ship, Olbia opens onto a bright Sardinian waterfront of marinas, low hills, and calm blue water, with the town stretching back from the harbour rather than crowding the quay itself. Nearby, visitors can look forward to a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere, palm-lined streets, and easy access to the coast and the historic centre.

Approaching Palma by sea, you’re welcomed by a broad bay lined with marinas, waterfront promenades and the pale stone skyline of the city beyond. Frequently asked questions about tall ship cruises and sailing ships

Many leisure and introductory voyages accept guests without sailing experience. Training and expedition voyages may require active participation, minimum ages or a particular level of mobility. Check the operator's conditions for the exact voyage before booking.
Start with the operator's joining instructions because space, dress rules and required equipment vary by ship. Soft luggage, layered clothing, a waterproof outer layer, sun protection and operator-approved non-slip footwear are common recommendations. Ask a medical professional about suitable seasickness precautions if needed.
Choose a cruise on the Cruise Tall Ships site, click the offer and go to the operator's booking page. We do not charge fees – we connect you directly with the cruise organizer.
Choosing a tall ship cruise is more than just booking a vacation; it is an invitation to experience the timeless romance of the sea. Unlike modern, crowded cruise liners, a traditional sailing vessel offers an intimate atmosphere where the sound of the wind in the canvas replaces the hum of engines. Taking part in such a unique voyage allows you to connect with maritime heritage while enjoying the comforts of a modern leisure cruise. Whether it’s the thrill of seeing the horizon from a wooden deck, the spectacular sight of a full press of sail, or the chance to visit hidden coastal gems inaccessible to larger ships, a tall ship voyage offers a sense of freedom that is simply unmatched. It is the perfect choice for travelers seeking authenticity, tranquility, and a truly luxury sailing experience that stays with them long after they return to shore.
Tall ships cruises take place on many waters: Baltic, North Sea, Atlantic, Caribbean, Mediterranean and others. Each offer indicates the region and route.
Safety rules, vessel certification, briefings and required equipment depend on the ship, flag state, route and operator. Review the operator's current safety information and ask them directly about certification or accessibility before booking.
Follow our website and newsletter – we regularly add new cruises and news. You can also subscribe to the newsletter to receive information about offers.
Swimming requirements vary by operator and voyage. Do not assume that a life jacket removes an operator's swimming or mobility requirement; confirm the conditions for the specific departure.
