Die Zwillinge von Kappeln
Die Zwillinge is a gaff-rigged cutter built in 1995 in Kappeln, Germany, replicating a 19th-century Danish pilot yacht ("jagt") originally built in 1850 for the Neumühlen-Oevelgönne pilot brotherhood - small, fast sailing vessels once used exclusively to ferry people. Her hull was designed by naval architects Judel/Vrolijk & Co. Since 2013 she's been owned by a Lübeck-based charitable company dedicated to preserving historic sailing pilot vessels, based at Museumshafen Lübeck. She carries a crew of up to 8 with comfortable accommodation - a large salon, owner's cabin with private bath, and guest cabins - and regularly sails the Baltic, appearing at events like the Rum-Regatta in Flensburg and Lübeck's Captains' Cup, alongside a history that includes a Mediterranean and Atlantic voyage to the Canary Islands under earlier ownership.
