Adventuress
Adventuress is a gaff-rigged schooner built in 1913 in East Boothbay, Maine, designed by noted naval architect B.B. Crowninshield. One of only two surviving San Francisco bar pilot schooners, she's a designated U.S. National Historic Landmark, now operated by the nonprofit Sound Experience out of Port Townsend, Washington. She sails the Salish Sea year-round, running environmental and sail training programs - from 3-hour day trips to 6-day overnight voyages - for schools, scouts, families, and at-risk teens, with an apprentice program for ages 14–18. Guests are encouraged to take the helm, raise sails, and learn firsthand about Puget Sound's marine environment and maritime heritage.
